Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Here you will hopefully find some answer those common questions that we see all the time. If you don't find the answer to your question here, try the troubleshooting guide, or post a comment to our Forum and see if others can help you out.

Why do I need this?
Some gamers, like us, tend to be stat junkies. Bungie's website, while very nice in some areas, lacks some overall measures, doesn't allow custom analysis, and there is no guarantee that your data will be available for more than a couple of months. With this program, you can download, and permanantly archive your data so that you can look back over your entire Halo 2 and Halo 3 career and analyze your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

How long does it take?
On average, it seems to take about 8 minutes per 100 games on a 500kb/s connection. Games that have been partially purged download much quicker, since not as much data is available. Also, games with less players in them take less time. In reality, it depends on many factors, such as the current load on Bungie's servers, your available network bandwidth, firewalls, proxies, connection limiters, and so on. Download speeds tend to be faster during non-peak Pacific Time Zone (PST) hours and as the week progresses. So for example, if you try to download on Monday morning at 9AM PST, chances are that speeds will be lower than if you download on a Saturday at 2AM PST.

How often should I download my data?
It depends on how much you play, but don't wait too long, because Bungie may purge your data before you have a chance to download it. We would recommend once every 1-2 weeks.

Is there a Mac or Linux version?
Currently, there is no native Mac or Linux version. People have been successful in running Query Spree with Virtual PC 7 (XP Pro), or VMWare. We would like to create a native Mac build for OSX, but lack the knowledge to do so. It seems like coding in RealBasic would work, but we have yet to locate someone who knows it. Please contact us if you would like to help.

Can I get the source code?
Currently, this program is closed-source, so please do not ask for the source code. We are open to all improvement ideas.

How do I make a suggestion or send a comment?
Feel free to email us all your feedback (good or bad) at support@shatterock.com. Be sure to use the words 'Query Spree' in the subject to avoid spam filtering. Also, posting ideas and feedback on our forum is a good way to gather community support for your thoughts, which helps the Query Spree team prioritize the features and fixes to implement in future releases.
